This campaign has really been a wonderful experience. Although it was extremely tiring, i really had fun, hope you guys did too:) I never knew that i had so many friends out there who would help me though they wouldn't gain anything. I never knew that we would be able to finish making 1500 souvernirs in less than a week. I never knew that st nicks had such a GREAT spirit. I am really happy, not because of the results, but rather, because of all the support you guys have given me. This morning, i didnt have much time to think and deliver a good thank you speech, so i shall do it on this blog!

Firstly, a BIG thank you to my dear campaign manager, abigail lai, who efficiently passed down messages to the rest of the team and costantly provided moral support for me!

To all my campaign mates! Sharon, for helping me draw out so many felt elephants. Shirley, for her 'high' energy level and for coordinating the team for all the cheers.

My classmates: Jane, Hui Shan, Celine, Mun Foong, Jessalyn, Huai Chyn, Lynette, Eileen for helping out with the stickers and souvenirs.

My juniors: Megan, for passing down messages to the rest of the sec 2s and for giving comments for my speech. Martha, for her constant 'go ali!', Yvette, for finishing the most number of souvenirs, Sharon Lim for helping although she was sick and Swee en, for her support despite her busy schedule.

Kristin and Cristine, for helping me despite not knowing many people in my campaign team!

To angelique, for her 'good luck' and 'congrats' messages. and also all those from green badge (Jolene, Sharon Sum, Yi hui, Shu Qing, Hillary and all others) who walked up with me on election rally day. oh, and the enthu hong yee and her friend (sorry i forgot ur name! but i think its wanjing).

To all seniors who have given me advice and support. My mentors, Vivian and Marilyn. And claire! Fpr helping me rally during fri recess:)

Wah. super long list. i hope i didnt miss out anyone! Lastly, a big THANK YOU to the student body for giving me this opportunity to lead you. I will try my utmost best to be a good president! Thank you for your support!:)

Lets walk through this journey in st nicks together!
Together we walk the path.

Lots of Love,
Alison

CAMPAIGNING IS OVER(:

i hope you've all seen the effort we've put in during the past week.
screaming our lungs out during recess (alison alison alison woohoo!)
waking up bright and early for meetings in the morning (the family lounge has become our favourite place)
going class to class just to give out alison's souvenirs (and risk getting scolded by teacher. gah. sorry to the classes which didnt get it! cause you guys were having tests or simply cause the teacher's wrath was not to be incurred.)
sticking stickers all over everyone and getting spammed by other campaign team's stickers (k this was fun. really)
going to the staffroom and being unfailingly courteous while asking for support and for teachers to stick stickers. (teachers are impt mans, votesx4 weightage)
putting up the posters all around the school such that i see alison's face everywhere (haha, the most ingenious by the canteen gang, who pasted the posters on the permanently switched off tvs)
singing remix (shirley's wonderful version) of 'when you look me in the eye' complete with exaggerated gesticulations on wednesday's assembly. (not to mention the small dry run we had in the morning which probably made anyone who heard us laugh aloud)
throwing sweets and chocolates at ppl while not eating them at all. the temptation is hard to resist i assure you. (oh yum fruit plus and m&ms)
preparing the video which included pictures of alison from all over. school, moelc, the arena, rmun (ohyea!), exco meeting etcetc with juniors seniors teachers (wahaha) classmates cca mates schoolmates etcetc! (which was a lot of fun cause the part with the campaigning pictures was from my phone which is greatly honoured and currently basking in the glory for being of use to alison.)
preparing and memorising the script which meant a lot of time and stress. i mean we all noe how important the rally assembly is. alison was up there giving her speech with a slight fever and still did so well! (we are proud of you alison! with emotive words.)

that's why, on monday, when exco members give you the voting slip. vote from you heart. dont let any connections or sweets or souvenirs or fear of being exploited waver you from voting for the best. im not going to tell you the best choice is alison, though i really think that she IS the best choice. but truly, from the bottom of your heart, make the right choice and cross the box (preferably the one next to alison:D)

for me, i wasnt sure who i was going to vote for. alison didnt make it a must for us all to vote for her as we were in her campaign. she gave us the right of choice. and today i can proudly tell you my vote goes to alison.
this might be a little to late. but let me just talk abt how i knew her
i came to noe of her existence when i was in sec1 as we were in the same jap class. but i personally got to noe her in sec2justice (the aircon classroom i so miss) with the 3 other monitors, she coordinated us as a class, kept everything intact, and was always sure not to miss anyone out in anything. even in the moelc she's keen to help and willing to be helped. to let go of pride and serve as a leader.
so this year, when i learned that alison was joining my team for rmun (a mock UN conference) i was elated. it was a lot of fun working with her. being serious and crapping at the right times. through the rmun days when i was working esp close with her, i felt the exuberance radiating from her even when the rest of us were dejected or demoralised. she encouraged us and at the end, i have to say the experience working with her in a group was most enriching. i dont think i'll ever meet anyone as optimistic.

i noe 4 out of 5 candidates personally, though maybe not as well. and i think they are all cutting edge leaders in their own rights.
however, for councilor president, i believe that alison is my best choice, and hopefully yours too.

fruit plus and m&ms,
abigaillai(:

heylow!
today was DAY1 of campaigning!

and it was an overwhelming success!(((:

being the very first campaign team to start rallying during the hour long combined recess, we made quite a huge impact on the student body (and got quite a number of weird stares) went down the aisle a couple (or more!) times screaming alison cheers<3>
then the other campaign teams started rallying and Alison decided to let her dearest campaign team off to eat as she would never let her members starve, and went off table to table to ask for support.

ELECTION FEVER <3!

EVERYONE, vote for ALISON, your best choice!

hello.

like many of you, i did not know alison well in the beginning. i'm sure quite a few of you have only begun to hear her name because of the coming elections.. her smiling face plastered on every wall. it's true though, that she smiles all the time. =)

i'm in LD and i started off dying to be in the drama wing, because most of my friends would be joining that wing. so, i purposely attempted to do everything wrongly during selection sessions. however, i was asked to join the debate wing, and i unconsciously felt guilty. maybe i should give it a shot? i felt awkward as well because i didn't know if it was the right choice.

but the first person who messaged me was alison. i was surprised that she did so because at that time, she was a stranger to me. she said i should take my time to make the decision, not to feel stressed, and most importantly, don't regret what you have chosen. "Just follow your heart."

indeed, this is the very thing i want to say. i've had personal experiences with her when she has comforted me, or seeked comfort from her juniors/friends. she treats everyone equally, as friends. when she reaches out to listen to you, it gives you the impression that what you say matters to her. i believe that she is someone who is able to listen out for students' needs, and can make something revolutionary happen.

change. besides being able to juggle her responsibilities wonderfully (without dropping them!), alison would go all out for anything that she is passionate about. do you remember the arena on tv? well, it seemed like our school didn't do so well. but i had the priviledge to see the amount of effort and time and hope put into it. it was an admiring and must-be-applauded endeavor; the team did not even quake under the confident stances of XXX institution. (inside joke for st. nicks.) with determination, all challenges can be overcome, and nothing is too difficult if we do this together.

so i encourage you, to walk the path with alison. i'm someone insignificant. but i feel honoured, as her junior, or her campaign team member, or as a friend. that she would extend her warm hand (or trunk!) of invitation to me, to journey with her.

like the dilemma i faced (which i've told you earlier about), my only quote would be: just follow your heart. even as part of the campaign team, i will not force you or annoy you so much so that you'll say: "fine! i'll vote for her!". i simply wish to present a testimony, and with silent conviction i know that alison can do it. with all her amazing qualities against the other campaigners running for the election, i know that she can be the one leading us towards the future. and i'll be supporting her all the way, with all my heart.

follow yours.
